Scrapped 2017 album is a placeholder name for an unreleased studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd. It was created in 2017, and was intended to be Tesfaye's fourth studio album, until its cancellation, and replacement by the My Dear Melancholy EP.

In the 2018 interview with the TIME magazine, Tesfaye revealed that after releasing his hit album Starboy in late 2016, he began crafting a new, upbeat project.

Prior to Melancholy, I had a whole album written, done. Which wasn’t melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life. [...] It was very upbeat—it was beautiful.

When asked if he made the record while still in the relationship with Selena Gomez, Tesfaye confirmed it, adding the breakup was the reason for its cancellation, and stating he "doesn't want to perform something that he doesn't feel". After the interviewer asked Abel if listeners will ever hear it, he said "never".

Songs[]

Although now a lot of the tracks made for the album are known, some did eventually leak online over the years.
