"São Paulo" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd. It was released as the third single fom his sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow on October 30, 2024 through XO and Republic Records. The song features vocals from both Tesfaye and the Brazilian singer-songwriter Anitta.
Release[]
Tesfaye first presented the song through an NFL Brasil advert on August 31, 2024.[1] He performed the full song live during his September 7, one-night-only in São Paulo alongside Anitta, and continued to sing it during the Australian shows of the After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour.
On October 26, a small bit of the song was again featured in a trailer to Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6.[2] On the same day, Anitta posted to her Instagram a photo showing her pregnant, although two posts later it was revealed to be a "São Paulo" teaser, now showing an x-ray with a demonic baby and the date October 30, 2024.[3] Tesfaye officially announced the release date on October 29.[4] The video and song premiered at 8 PM ET simultaneously. When explaining why it was released on a Wednesday and not Friday (the usual global release day), he stated he wanted the song out by Halloween.[5]
