"Dancing in the Flames" is a single by Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd. It was released on September 13, 2024 through XO and Republic Records. On September 15, a live recording from the São Paulo concert was released exclusively on streaming, followed by an EP featuring acoustic, instrumental, and acapella versions.

Release[]

Tesfaye first presented the song during his September 7, 2024 one-night-only in São Paulo. A snippet of it was featured in a September 9 iPhone 16 Pro advert, followed by the single's announcement hours later.[1][2]

The track was released as what was expected to be the lead single of and a part of Tesfaye's sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. However, days before the record's release, Abel removed all posts regarding "Dancing in the Flames" from his Instagram, and the song ultimately wasn't present on the tracklist. While this isn't confirmed, it's speculated by fans to have been caused by the January 2025 LA wildfires.

Lyrics[]

[Intro]
(Yeah)

[Verse 1]
Traffic dies while we are racin' home
Melted lights cover the open road
I hope we make it 'cause I've been chasin'
Another odyssey, oh

[Chorus]
I can't wait to see your face
Crash when we're switchin' lanes
My love's beyond the pain
But if I miss the brake
We're dancin' in the flames
It's indescribable

[Post-Chorus]
Ooh, yeah

[Verse 2]
"The world can't heal," they say on the radio (Oh, no)
So grab the wheel, want you to be in control
We're dodgin' headlights, and you say, "Hold tight"
Another odyssey, oh, hey

[Chorus]
I can't wait to see your face
Crash when we're switchin' lanes
My love's beyond the pain
But if I miss the brake
We're dancin' in the flames
It's indescribable

[Post-Chorus]
Ooh (Indescribable), oh
Ooh

[Bridge]
Everything's faded, we barely made it
The fire's ragin' but you're still beautiful
And it's amazin' 'cause I can taste it
Our final odyssey, oh

[Chorus]
I can't (I can't) wait to see your face (Can't wait to see, ha)
Crash when we're switchin' lanes
My love's beyond the pain (Hey)
But if I miss the brake
We're dancin' in the flames (Dancin' in the flames)
So just have faith (Just have faith in me)
We'll never be the same (We'll never be, never be)
It's indescribable

[Post-Chorus]
Ooh (Indescribable), oh, hey
Ooh (Indescribable)
