"Big Sleep" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd. It was released on January 31, 2025 as a part of the artist's sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. It features credited production from the legendary Italian musician, Giorgio Moroder.
Release[]
The track was first written and recorded for the previous record, Dawn FM, and previewed on October 18, 2021 through the initial teaser for the After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour.[1] As it became a mystery for the next couple years, it got fan-dubbed "I Love it When You're Angry" after the lyric from the snippet.
Lyrics[]
[Intro]
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La-la, la-la, la-la
[Verse 1]
You know I love it when you're angry
I'm looking at you like, like
Nah-nah-nah, nah
As I make you go
I don't want you to go away
I can't, I can't
[Chorus]
Well, you used up your borrowed light
And you wasted your borrowed time
Big sleep, big sleep
Well, you barely put up a fight
Ready for the forever night
Big sleep, big sleep, oh
[Bridge]
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
[Verse 2]
Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the Lord my soul to keep
Angels watch me through the night
Wake me up with light
[Outro]
Oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
Soul resurrecting
As He comes to life, oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Trivia[]
- The track interpolates "(Theme From) Midnight Express (Instrumental)" by Giorgio Moroder, hence the writing credits.
